Participated in TAG
for the International Standards Organization (ISO)-
In the early development of what is now International Standard ISO 14001, senior members of Management and Engineering Services participated in the Technical Advisory Group in the United States that debated and made improvement suggestions on various aspects of the standard. These improvement recommendations were submitted by the Technical Advisory Group, as the formal body in the United States for this standard. The United States has been a long-time member of the International Organization for Standardization which later released the first internal standard for environmental management systems (ISO 14001).

These management systems were deployed to many national park units within the Intermountain Region. In 2004 San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, Texas, was the national park unit to have achieved environmental management system certification by an independent registrar.
